In life, one may have a lot of friends. But is the a rare find to have one that knows you inside and out and that you can truly be yourself with. That is this little one's mother. We have know each other since elementary school and have been a part of each other lives since. There have been some years where we have not spoken and other years, we are in contact daily. However, each time we are together whether 2 days since we've spoken or 2 years, it is like no time as passed at all.
I'll be honest to say, years ago, she was always more friends with my sisters than me (and I think it was because we are so much alike), so it is interesting that all these years later, us two are the closest. She is someone, that when I moved here to the South from Canada, with no friends and family and a workaholic husband and a herniated disc... that showed up for me. One phone call to her when I was struggling the most... she made a few calls to change her work schedule, jumped in the car and showed up to help me for a week. And when I say jumped in the car, I mean she drove 15 hours, on her own, across the Country. I don't know if she knows just how much I am forever grateful for that. Friends like that hard to find and so when you are lucky to have one like I am, you treasure them.
What was a week of help and support turned into a tradition where she returns at least twice a year from Canada, with her own little girl and her husband and we have a great time and I of course get to take pictures of her family. I feel like I come out ahead:) I mean I have great company and get to do what I love... capturing these wonderful and geniunie moments. This is my favorite part of being a photographer - capturing these pure lifestyle moments that are treasured for years to come.
